Lydia is an old-bicycle riding, vintage obsessive, who loves to spend her weekends rummaging through dusty crates of junk at flea markets and carboot sales. She also loves the sea, Dansette record players, Jean Cocteau, Henry Darger and Jeanne Moreau. Hopes to learn the drums in the near future and to write a book charting the flea markets and bazaars of the world.
Photographer, arts educator and wanna-be filmmaker. Mildly obsessive about john cassavetes and Monica Vitti. Likes Paul Gauguin paintings, Powell and Pressburger films and pork pies. Dislikes Paul McCartney.
Favourite places: Rivergaro in the north of Italy and Coigach in the north of Scotland.

We aim to encourage the celebration of forgotten elements of film; both in terms of the practitioners who, historically, may not have received the recognition they deserved, as well as those pieces of film that have been lost, discarded or forgotten. Through the presentation of programmes that merge documentary, fiction and experimental themes, we hope to capture and expose a few of the of the many facets of the visual image; from the beautiful to the banal, and all that exists between.
We aim to use the Environment integrally in our events and we endeavour to harness some of Scotland's lesser known and interesting venues to present our showcases
Furthermore, many of our performances attempt to create a space where music can interweave with the visuals in an unexpected way, in order to engage reciprocally with the films and to create an all encompassing and transformative audio / visual experience.

Screen Bandita began in 2007 in an attempt to draw attention to female directors and practitioners whose work remains relatively undiscovered and obscure, or criminally underrated, either within popular culture or film history. We wanted to create a lively space to view and discuss these works whilst also addressing the gender imbalance prevalent in the film world.
As such, we have previously screened the dreamlike meditations of Maya Deren, work by Edinburgh/Orkadian artist and poet Margaret Tait and even early shorts by some of our favorite current female filmmakers; Lynne Ramsay, Andrea Arnold and Jane Campion.
However, fast- forward to 2010, by which time Screen Bandita has expanded its remit and re-focused its energies in order to harness the groups collective love of outdated film technology and found footage, and to provide a context where these snapshots of forgotten moments can be exposed to a new audience.
Taking this remit as a starting point, the Banditas specialize in staging thematic events showcasing various combinations of 8mm and 16mm film, slide/ image projections that are shown alongside specially curated soundtracks developed in collaboration with local musicians or churned out from two ancient gramophones!
